On 2020 August 15, Mahindra revealed the second generation Thar in India, officially launched in October 2020, Thar was an instant hit, raking up tens of thousands of bookings within hours of launch. Its iconic styling and undeniable on-road presence have made the Thar the talk of the auto-town. Its predecessor, the first generation Thar was launched exactly a decade ago on October 7th, 2010. It was a boasting success, with its off-road capabilities and pricing the first gen Thar created waves in the market.

Since Mahindra produces 3000 vehicles a month it sell around 3-4 thousand vehicles per month, shows even with the relatively long waiting period the demand hasn't decreased a bit.
