One of the image that comes to our mind when we hear the name Mahindra Thar, a proper 4x4, covered in mud somewhere in the vastness of our beautiful world exploring and conquering new lands. well now, Mahindra has launched a rear-wheel drive RWD version of Thar, it is Thar but not quite Thar, because as we mentioned Thar is know for it's off-road capabilities, good new is that, it is cheaper by almost five lakhs to it's 4x4 brothers and sister. The RWD version is available with only in hard top trim though. RWD is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The new Thar AX Optional Diesel HT RWD variant start at 9.99 lakhs ex-showroom price, on road price in Kochi for this entry level variant is 11.79 lakhs. Thar is powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, the RWD variants add another engine option to the array with a 1.5-litre D117 diesel engine producing 116.93bhp and 300Nm torque, paired with six-speed manual or automatic gearbox, the petrol engine only have the automatic option and diesel engine only has manual option in the RWD versions.
