Skoda Octavia RS Launched in India at ₹49.99 Lakh — But Sorry You're Out of Luck!
2 min read
Skoda Auto India has officially launched the eagerly awaited Octavia RS in India with a price tag of ₹49.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Limited to just 100 fully imported units, and all of them already sold out in 20 minutes! The performance sedan has already seen all units from its initial allotment booked out. Deliveries are set to begin from 6 November.
This model positions itself as a serious performance sedan alternative in India, going head-to-head with the Volkswagen Golf GTI, and drawing comparisons with premium German rivals like the BMW M340i and Audi S5 Sportback — albeit with a more accessible price point.
Powertrain and Performance
At the heart of the Octavia RS lies the EA888 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine — the same high-performance unit used in the Golf GTI. Tuned for Indian conditions, this motor delivers 265 hp and 370 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) driving the front wheels.
Skoda claims a 0–100 km/h time of 6.4 seconds and a governed top speed of 250 km/h. A sports exhaust system comes standard, though Skoda has opted not to include Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) in the Indian-spec model.

Exterior: Sporty Yet Subtle
The Octavia RS carries a refined sportiness. Front and rear bumpers are more aggressive, and the grille is blacked out with RS badging. The design includes vertical side slats, a sculpted bonnet, and flared wheel arches housing 19-inch aero-optimized alloys.
The rear complements with a connected LED taillight bar, an upright tailgate, and a subtle lip spoiler. Exterior paint options include Candy White, Magic Black, Mamba Green, Race Blue, and Velvet Red, offering a wide palette for buyers seeking personality in their RS.

Interior & Features: Performance Meets Comfort
Inside, the Octavia RS fosters a focused yet comfortable environment. The cabin is wrapped in all-black upholstery with red contrast stitching, paired with sports seats and a flat-bottomed RS steering wheel.
Feature-wise, it is abundantly equipped:
- 13-inch touchscreen infotainment
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
- 11-speaker Canton premium audio
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- 360° camera
- Matrix LED headlights
- Heated, power-adjustable, and massaging front seats
- 3-zone climate control
- Head-up display
- Ambient lighting
- 10 airbags and Level-2 ADAS suite
This ensures that the Octavia RS is as capable on daily drives as it is thrilling under hard acceleration.

Comparisons and Market Positioning
When compared to the VW Golf GTI, which is priced around ₹50.91 lakh, the Octavia RS offers a performance sibling in a sedan silhouette at a slightly lower cost. Relative to the older-gen Octavia RS 245, the new model commands a ₹14 lakh premium, reflecting the leap in performance, features, and positioning.
Against premium German alternatives like the M340i and S5, the Octavia RS offers a compelling balance: high performance, strong features, and less extreme pricing (though the Germans still offer higher output and luxury credentials).
The new Octavia RS is more than a performance badge — it represents Skoda’s intent to flex engineering credibility in India. With limited numbers, high-end equipment, and a potent powertrain, it is aimed at enthusiasts who want German-style performance without paying full German prices.
