Nissan’s sub-compact SUV, the Magnite, has officially entered the CNG segment with a smart, cost-effective offering that’s now arriving at showrooms across the country. While the CNG variant was launched nearly a month ago, customer interest has peaked this week as dealerships begin receiving the vehicles, making it the right moment to take a closer look at what the Magnite CNG brings to the table.

The Nissan Magnite CNG is priced from ₹6.89 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable CNG SUVs in India today. Rather than introducing it as a factory-fitted variant, Nissan has partnered with Motozen to offer a fully certified, dealership-fitted CNG kit. The installation, which costs ₹75,000, is carried out at authorized showrooms and includes everything required for compliance and safety—RC endorsement, fire extinguisher, cylinder installation, and government certification.

Available only with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and manual gearbox, the CNG variant is offered across multiple trims including the popular E and E (O) variants. The turbo-petrol engine remains exclusive to petrol models for now, as the CNG retrofit is not compatible with turbo variants.

Mileage is a critical factor in the CNG segment, and Nissan claims that drivers can expect an efficiency of 24 km/kg in city driving conditions and up to 30 km/kg on the highway. These are impressive figures, especially when combined with the Magnite’s compact SUV appeal and strong road presence. Boot space, often a concern with CNG conversions, remains relatively practical with room for two full-size suitcases and a couple of smaller bags, thanks to a well-integrated 12kg single-cylinder setup and tuned suspension.

A key point to note is that this CNG option is only available on the new, E20-compliant Magnite models. Existing owners of older petrol Magnite variants cannot opt for this retrofit. The CNG kit itself is covered under a warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh kilometers, but this coverage comes from Motozen, not Nissan, since it’s a third-party integration authorized by the company.

The Magnite CNG is currently available at dealerships in select states, including Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, Karnataka, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Nationwide availability will follow in Phase 2 of the rollout.

For car buyers seeking a balance of affordability, practicality, and low running costs, the Magnite CNG arrives as a timely and relevant option—especially as fuel prices continue to fluctuate. What makes the experience even more seamless is Carbae’s end-to-end car buying platform.
