Maruti Suzuki Invicto Scores 5-Star Safety Rating in Bharat NCAP Crash Tests
2 min read
The Maruti Suzuki Invicto has added another accolade to its name, becoming the brand’s latest model to achieve a 5-star rating under Bharat NCAP’s safety assessment program. With this, Maruti now has three models carrying the coveted 5-star certification, alongside the Dzire and the Victoris SUV. The rating applies to all Invicto variants, reinforcing the MPV’s credentials as a premium and family-oriented offering.
Adult Occupant Protection
In Bharat NCAP’s rigorous testing, the Invicto recorded an impressive 30.43 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP). During the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the MPV scored 14.43/16, while the side movable deformable barrier test resulted in a perfect 16/16. Some points were deducted due to only “adequate” protection readings for the driver and passenger chest regions, as well as the driver’s shin.
The Invicto also received a satisfactory rating in the side pole impact test. Interestingly, its sibling, the Toyota Innova Hycross, managed a marginally higher AOP score of 30.47/32, showing how closely aligned the two vehicles are in safety performance.

Child Occupant Protection
For child occupant protection (COP), the Invicto matched the Innova Hycross with a near-perfect 45 out of 49. Both MPVs secured maximum points in the dynamic test (24/24) and CRS installation test (12/12), while scoring 9/13 in the vehicle assessment category.
Crash testing involved rearward-facing child seats for 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies, secured using ISOFIX mounts and a support leg. Though ISOFIX anchors are standard on the outer rear seats, the absence of an integrated child restraint system prevented a full score.
Safety Features and Equipment
All Invicto variants are equipped with a robust set of standard safety features. These include:
- Six airbags
- ABS with EBD
- Rear disc brakes
- Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
- Three-point seatbelts for all passengers
- 360-degree camera
This comprehensive package ensures that Invicto’s strong crash test scores are complemented by day-to-day safety technologies.
Pricing and Variants
The Invicto is available in three trims – Zeta+ (7-seat), Zeta+ (8-seat), and Alpha+ (7-seat) – priced between ₹24.97 lakh and ₹28.61 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a premium MPV in Maruti’s Nexa lineup, the Invicto shares its underpinnings with the Toyota Innova Hycross but brings the appeal of Maruti’s extensive reach and service network.
The 5-star Bharat NCAP rating underlines the Invicto’s positioning as a safe and premium family MPV, capable of competing in a space where safety credentials are increasingly valued. Combined with its comprehensive safety kit, hybrid powertrain options, and premium features, the Invicto strengthens Maruti’s portfolio at the higher end of the market.
