Mahindra XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition Launched at Rs 29.35 Lakh: A Luxury EV Built Around Experience
4 min read
Mahindra has expanded its flagship electric SUV lineup with the launch of the XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition, priced at Rs 29.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Bookings opened on March 2, with deliveries scheduled to begin from March 10, 2026.
At a time when most special editions rely on cosmetic tweaks and badge engineering, the Cineluxe Edition takes a slightly different route. Nothing fundamental changes underneath, yet the intention behind this version feels clear — Mahindra is attempting to reposition the XEV 9e not just as an electric SUV, but as a space designed around in-car experience.
And that distinction matters.
A Familiar Foundation, Reimagined Focus
The Cineluxe Edition is derived from the Pack Three trim, but is offered exclusively with the larger 79kWh battery pack. Performance figures, drivetrain layout and overall capability remain identical to the standard flagship variant.
Instead of chasing marginal gains in acceleration or range, Mahindra has concentrated its efforts where EV buyers are increasingly paying attention — the time spent inside the vehicle.
As electric platforms mature, mechanical differentiation between rivals continues to shrink. Cabin experience, technology integration and sensory comfort are quietly becoming the new battleground, and the Cineluxe Edition reflects exactly that shift.

Exterior Changes Stay Understated
From the outside, the updates are intentionally restrained.
Two new monotone finishes — Satin Black and Satin White — distinguish the Cineluxe Edition, both lending the SUV a cleaner and more premium visual identity compared to conventional metallic paint options. A subtle ‘Cineluxe’ badge placed on the rear pillar is the only overt identifier.
Beyond this, the SUV retains the familiar Pack Three design elements including 19-inch alloy wheels, full-LED lighting signatures and the powered tailgate. Mahindra clearly hasn’t tried to redesign the vehicle visually; the real transformation begins once you step inside.

The Cabin Is Where the Edition Earns Its Name
The biggest change arrives in the interior environment.
A new Chestnut Brown and Nocturne Black dual-tone theme replaces the standard cabin finish, introducing warmer tones rarely seen in electric SUVs that typically favour minimalist monochrome layouts. Contrast stitching across the dashboard, steering wheel and seats gives the space a more lounge-like character rather than a technology-first aesthetic.
But colour is only part of the story.
The Cineluxe Edition carries forward the full feature suite of the Pack Three trim, headlined by a triple-screen dashboard layout and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system enhanced with Dolby Atmos. Combined with ambient lighting capable of millions of colour combinations and a panoramic glass roof, the cabin begins to feel less like a cockpit and more like an entertainment environment.
An augmented-reality head-up display, surround-view cameras with surveillance functionality, wireless charging pads and lifestyle-oriented modes such as Pet Mode and Camp Mode reinforce this direction. The XEV 9e is clearly being positioned as a vehicle meant to be experienced even while stationary — something increasingly relevant in urban EV ownership.
Performance Remains Unchanged — And That’s Intentional
Powering the Cineluxe Edition is the same rear-mounted electric motor producing 286hp and 380Nm, enabling a claimed 0–100kmph sprint in 7.45 seconds.
Energy comes from the 79kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a claimed driving range of up to 500km, while real-world testing figures hover closer to 456km depending on usage conditions.
By restricting this edition to the larger battery option, Mahindra ensures the Cineluxe badge remains aligned with long-range premium ownership rather than entry positioning.
A Smartly Positioned Variant in the Lineup
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Cineluxe Edition is its pricing.
| Variant | Price (Ex-showroom) |
|---|---|
| Pack Three Select (59kWh) | Rs 28.65 lakh |
| Cineluxe Edition (79kWh) | Rs 29.35 lakh |
| Pack Three (79kWh) | Rs 31.25 lakh |
This effectively places the Cineluxe Edition in a strategic sweet spot. Buyers step up to the larger battery and flagship-level experience while avoiding the price jump associated with the fully loaded Pack Three variant.
In practical terms, it becomes the version that delivers most of the flagship appeal without pushing into psychological Rs 30-plus lakh territory.
What This Launch Really Signals
The Cineluxe Edition highlights an important transition underway in India’s premium EV market.
Early electric vehicles competed primarily on range figures and performance metrics. Today, those numbers are beginning to converge across brands. What manufacturers are now selling is atmosphere — how a vehicle feels during everyday ownership.
Mahindra’s approach here suggests a recognition that premium EV buyers increasingly value immersion, comfort and digital interaction as much as outright driving dynamics.
The XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition, therefore, isn’t simply another limited variant. It represents a move toward treating the car as a connected living space rather than just transportation.
Market Position and Rivals
The XEV 9e continues to rival premium electric SUVs such as the BYD Atto 3 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. With the Cineluxe Edition, Mahindra strengthens its appeal among buyers prioritising cabin technology and luxury experience over outright performance differentiation.
The Carbae Insight
For buyers already considering the XEV 9e lineup, the Cineluxe Edition may quietly emerge as the most rational choice.
It delivers the long-range battery, flagship technology stack and a noticeably more premium cabin identity — without stretching to the top-end pricing bracket. More importantly, it reflects where modern EV ownership is heading: toward comfort, connectivity and experience-led mobility.
And in that context, the Cineluxe Edition feels less like a special edition — and more like Mahindra testing the future direction of its electric vehicle.
